Uri aftermath: Frustrated Pak may 'increase activities' along LoC, IB in J&K, Army on alert

Jammu, Sep 21: The neighbouring Pakistan may 'increase activities' along the Line of Control and International Border across the Jammu region to disrupt peace in the coming days in Jammu and Kashmir in view of Uri attack and counter insurgency operations launched by the Indian Army. The 'anger' broke out on the Line of Control in Uri Sector after 18 soldiers attained martyrdom in the deadliest terrorist attack and India launched major operation thereafter. ''Out of mere frustration, Pakistan may carry out 'anti-India' activities along the borders in the coming days,'' sources here today said.

''Not only the Pakistani Army but the anti-national elements (terrorists) and the Pak based ISI can create disturbances along the LoC and surely on the International Border as well,’’ sources said. They said, ''spurt in ceasefire violations, attempts of infiltration and combat operations cannot be ruled out from across the border in days to come.'' ''The government has issued alert for defence forces after intelligence inputs regarding more terror strikes on the border,’’ they said and added '' Pakistan will try to shift its terrorist training camps to some other places but they have to be demolished.'' For the last couple of days, the militant related movement was on rise along the LoC and efforts have been made by Pakistan to push groups of trained militants inside the Indian Territory especially in North Kashmir district of Kupwara, sources said.

''With tension prevailing on both the sides, rise in ceasefire violations, infiltration attempts, Over Ground Workers and sleeper cells getting active, is on cards,’’ they said and added that time has come that both law and order and the counter insurgency operations dealing agencies coordinate under the Unified Headquarters to achieve desired results failing which the whole exercise will go futile. Sources however, rued over the 'interference' of Union Home Ministry saying that it is Army’s domain to plan strategic operations. They also sought fixing of accountability of the army for such incidents that result due to certain element of their lapse as otherwise the enemy will keep taking advantage of the situations.
