New Delhi, Sep 21: In his first reaction on the Uri terror attack, that left 18 soldiers dead, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said India as a responsible power will deliver a proper response taking into all the aspects. Addressing an event at All India Management Association (AIMA), Mr Parrikar countered the suggestion hat New Delhi may not go for a "knee-jerk reaction".
"Some time knee jerk reaction is also necessary," the Defence Minister said, adding that he was not saying this in present case. But, he said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reaction on the attack that those behind this would not unpunished was not merely a statement. "We are quite serious about it. "We are a responsible power. But being responsible does not mean that we can sleep over it (terror attack)," he said. He said after taking reading of everything, the government under Mr Modi will decided the next action.
Mr Parrikar said a person of strength normally does not argue. "In our language we say, vessels which are empty make most noise," he said.
