JAMMU: The Bharatiya Janata party’s whirlwind connection with people in Jammu and Kashmir at all levels of social and political planes has established that the party is taking its manifestations seriously to nook and corner before the upcoming assembly elections.
Though the cornerstone is being laid for assembly elections , whispers are also ,making resounding echoes in the political corridors of the UT about Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat elections to supersede the MLAs elections and even may give a dent to the latter's prospective.
A senior BJP leader doesn’t deny when asked as to whether ULB and Panchayat polls may take the lead. However in an apparent front BJP top leaders are frequenting Jammu and Kashmir to sense the ground realities over the perspective of BJP fairing in the elections.
BJP National Secretary and Prabhari J&K UT Tarun Chugh yesterday landed in Jammu for a four-day comprehensive tour to various districts to get the pulse of the people.
After sojourning at Patnitop , Chug moved today to Kishtwar BJP office and is attending three meetings for three assembly seats falling in Kishtwar. Besides, prior to these meetings Chug also addressed Mahila and Yuva Morcha sammelan at Inderwal.
For tomorrow, the BJP National Secretary would be addressing again Minority and SC Morcha sammelans at Thathri before going for three meetings for three assembly seats falling in Doda.
On 26th July at Batote ,Prabhari J&K UT Tarun Chug would address Tridev Sammelan with Vijay Diwas which would be followed by his sojourn at BJP office Udhampur where he would hold two meetings for two assembly seats falling in Udhampur.
In the last leg of his tour on 27th , Tarun Chug would reach Samba BJP office and would attend three meetings for three assembly seats falling in Samba from where he would move to Kathua to culminate his tour .
Top BJP cadre in Jammu would be accompanying the BJP National Secretary and Prabhari J&K UT to apprise him of the ground status and the mood of the people in various districts . This exercise is being considered as a final feedback that Chug would be carrying back to New Delhi to submit his report.
In conclusion to general elections BJP had secured the highest vote share polled in the UT, followed by JKNC , Congress close on third spot, both parties likely to give a harsh dent to poll prospects of the UT in the wake of assembly elections. As of now after BJP’s 24.36% vote share, followed by JKNP’s 22.30, Congress chipped in close with 19.38 %, a performance better than its early two attempts in 2014 and 2019.
The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are likely to be held in the month of September, if going by the verdict of the Supreme Court.
