Cops on raid to nab criminals come under murderous assault, SI among 2 hospitalized

Jammu: A Sub Inspector and one Special Police Officer, SPO, of Jammu and Kashmir Police were injured after being attacked by a gang of criminals here in Jammu's R S Pura area ,on Monday. The incident happened when a police team was on raid to nab the criminals in the area. As the police team was on the way, they faced a murderous assault by a gang of criminals who fled away from the spot after leaving cops in a pool of blood. They also damaged the police's vehicle.
Upon receiving the information about the attack on the police team, the additional police teams reached the spot and rushed the injured cops to the Hospital for medical treatment.
Official sources said that a police team comprised of Sub Inspector Omkar Singh, Head Constable Major Singh, SGCT Sunil Kumar, SGCT Sat Pal, SPO Mohan Lal and SPO Sunil Kumar, who was on official Bolero car bearing registration number JK02DJ-4349 for patrolling in RS Pura area, received information that some unknown persons with criminal intention having arms were roaming in the area of Kuttu Chak, Raipur Gujjran. Acting on the information, the police team moved towards the informed place when a gang of criminals restrained their way and obstructed them from performing official duty and attacked them with sharp edged weapons i.e. tokas. They also pelted stones with the intention to kill them.
Due to the attack and stone pelting the Sub Inspector Omkar and SPO Sunil Kumar got severe injuries. After committing the offence all the said accused persons fled away. " A case FIR No.230/2024 U/S 126(2)/109/132/121(1)/191(2)/191(3)/324(4)/125 BNS 4/25 Arms Act has been registered against the accused persons", a police officer told The News Now.
Police have also identified the assailants as Balbir Singh son of Jagdish Raj of Mana Tehsil Suchetgarh Jammu, Vikram Singh son of Kulbir Singh Jatt of Chandu Chak, Suchetgarh, Tarlok Singh alias Laddi son of Narayan Singh of Rohi Morh, Gadigarh Bagh Hussain alias Bhagu alias Bhag Ali alias Sunny son of Manga of Kikri Morh, Bari Brahmna, Samba. Police have also launched a hunt to arrest the absconding accused persons.
