Guru Nank Jayanti celebrated with religious fervor across J&K

Jammu: The birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
The main program was organized at Gurdwara Yaadgar Sri Guru Nanak Sahib, Chand Nagar, Jammu . A large number of devotees from the Sikh community and other followers from different communities participated.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President of the National Conference, along with Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, Javed Rana, Forest Minister, and Rattan Lal Ji, Provincial President, paid obeisance at Chand Nagar Gurdwara Sahib.
Similarly, in Kashmir main function was held at the Gurudwara ChattiPatshahi in the Rainawari area of old Srinagar where a large number of members of the Sikh community including men, women, and children thronged to pay obeisance on the occasion.
Special prayers were offered for the peace, stability, and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir and the whole of India during the occasion.
The day was celebrated with fervour in other parts of the Valley as well, including Tral, Baramulla, and Pulwama.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said Guruji's teachings of brotherhood, love, and sacrifice inspire us to lead a righteous life and strengthen the bond of unity.
"May all of us strive to follow his noble teachings & rededicate ourselves to humanity & social equality", Lt Governor said.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended their greetings on the occasion of Gurpurab Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Omar said that Guru Nanak Dev ji's teachings of compassion, unity, and selfless service continue to inspire people across all communities.
The Chief Minister stated that we should continue to build a society based on mutual harmony, respect, and inclusivity.
The Chief Minister conveyed his best wishes to all celebrating on this occasion and expressed hope that the spirit of Guru Nanak Dev ji's teachings should continue to foster unity, peace, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Nalin Prabhat, and other leaders and social activists also extended their greetings to the Sikh community on the occasion.
All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina while extending his greetings on the occasion said that people should follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji so that his message of love and peace percolates down.
