9 from J&K held in fake arms license racket

Jammu: Nine residents of Jammu and Kashmir were arrested in a fake arms license racket during a joint operation by Tofkhana Police Station and Southern Command Military Intelligence in Pune.
As per reports, the authorities conducted raids on November 15 in Ahilyanagar and nearby areas, seizing nine 12-bore rifles and 58 live cartridges.
The accused, who were employed as security guards, had secured their jobs using forged arms licenses.
Upon verification with officials in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, it was confirmed that the licenses were fraudulent and not issued by any legitimate department.
Sher Ahmed Ghulam Hasan, a resident of Kalakoth in Rajouri, was identified as the mastermind of the operation.
He allegedly facilitated the creation of fake arms licenses and provided rifles to job seekers in exchange for Rs. 50,000 each.
The suspects, all from various parts of Rajouri, were residing temporarily in Maharashtra and other nearby areas while carrying out their illegal activities.
The arrests include Shabbir Mohammad Iqbal Hussain, Mohammad Saleem, Mohammad Safraj Nazir Hussain, Jehangir Zakir Hussain, Shahbaz Ahmed Nazir Hussain, Surjit Rameshchandra Singh, Abdul Rashid Chidia, Tufel Ahmed Mohammed Gazia, and Sher Ahmed Ghulam Hasan. They had been operating in regions such as Ahilyanagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Pune, Srigonda, and Sonai.
A case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including charges of fraud, forgery, and illegal possession of arms, as well as violations of the Arms Act.
