SRINAGAR: Member of the Legislative Assembly Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq said Monday that talks are underway with the Indian government to hand over the law and order situation to the Jammu and Kashmir government.
Speaking with media at party headquarters, MLA Zadibal said, “I want to congratulate the people of J&K for the mandate they gave to National Conference (NC). Out of 12 guarantees and 26 promises, the government fulfilled 4 major promises, which include a resolution on special status in the J&K Legislative Assembly, a resolution on statehood in the cabinet meeting, the reverse of the academic session from March to November, and age relaxation,” he said.
He also said that though the way ahead is tough, we have received a five-year mandate, and we will ensure that all promises made to the people are fulfilled in our time.
“Issues like the increase in ration, kerosene, and gas quota will be addressed in the coming days. We assure people that this government is yours, and all promises will be fulfilled, but keep patience,” he added.
He continued that the Omar Abdullah-led government aims to provide relief to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, ensure a major package, and boost local tourism.
“There are many plans under consideration before Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and people will be aware of them in the coming times. Our main focus is on tourism, infrastructure, trade, economy and horticulture. These sectors will be addressed in the passage of time for the welfare and betterment of J&K and its people,” he added.
“We want elected government to handle law and order issues so that individuals involved in lesser crimes will be released. Talks in this regard are underway with the Government of India. Though it will take some time, we are optimistic,” MLA Tanvir Sadiq said.
He said we are hopeful that statehood to J&K will be restored in the coming months so that issues pertaining to people will be resolved without impediments.
