This is your 4th book. Can you tell us more about your writing journey?

My journey truly began in 2004, where I had written for my school magazine. After writing for the magazine, I never thought or rather imagined that I would become a full time author or writer. I began writing again in 2012 where I had initially begun as a freelancer. As I grew and improved upon my skills, I began working full time as a writer for a fashion design company. The thought or idea of becoming an author only came about when my family suggested it, which was in the year 2013 in December. I only became an author in 2014, when I wrote my first book, “A Soldier’s Daughter”, and have been churning out books ever since.

If you had to describe “Our Love That Fell Apart” in one sentence, what would it be?

It’s tough to find love these days or rather believe in it. They say there’s a prince charming or princess out there for every girl or boy. I believe in compatibility. I believe if you're meant for each other, it’ll happen. The one sentence to describe my book would be “Innocent love that wasn’t meant to be.” Love comes in all forms. This book is about one losing love and one finding new love.

Now tell us a little bit more about the book!

The book is about a married couple getting divorced in the very beginning as the husband has found a new companionship, a new profound love he’d never thought he’d find. His wife finds it hard to take it all in; she has to think about her kid as well. It’s a tough journey for her and has to struggle to live with it. The book is about innocent love that finds its way.

How has the response of readers been to your book?

My readers have loved the book and have requested that I write a sequel. They like the concept of true love and are happy that this book is not the usual love story that one often reads or watches in movies. They are hungry for more and have made this book a bestseller.

Tell us more about the protagonist Grey. How did the character come to you and how much did she change in the process of writing the novel?

Grey is a complex character who hates her husband for leaving her suddenly, not giving her time to take in the shocking news, leaving their kids without giving them time to handle their divorce. She struggles to live a normal life again but has decided to take baby steps.

What would you say is the main difference between “Our Love That Fell Apart” and your previous books?

This book is not the usual love story one often reads or hears about. It is about a different kind of sexuality which has taken people around us years to accept. I have never written about such pure innocent love. It’s all new to me.

What type of research went into writing this book?

I had to imagine or rather put myself in a gay person’s shoes and see how it feels to love the same sex. I had to get a sense of how it feels getting divorced. It took a while understanding the characters and to put it into words.

What challenges did you face while writing this book?

Once I had understood the characters well, the writing was easy and never really stopped till the end. I loved every moment writing this book and wish I can write many such books in the future as well.

Can you recommend five books from any genre, for our readers to add to their reading lists, that you particularly cherish?

Ashwin Sanghi’s “Chanakya's Chant”, Karan Johar’s “An Unsuitable Boy”, Kulpreet Yadav’s “In Love with Simran” and “Queens of Crime”, Neil D’silva’s “Yakshini”. These are the kind of books I have loved reading and recommend my readers to read them at least once.

What are you working on next?

I am working on the sequel to “Our Love That Fell Apart”. My readers requested that I write a part two for this book.

Can you share with our readers a motivational quote that keeps you going?

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” – Mark Twain. This is the one quote I believe in. You have to push yourself to get work done. Push yourself out of your own comfort zone to produce great work.
