Madrasa sealed as Rs 14 Cr funds meant for poor students diverted for building mosques

Div Com orders DCs to collect details regarding nature of land on which 150 mosques built
Jammu: The Madrasa built in Bathindi area has been sealed by the government on the grounds that Rs 14.40 crore foreign funding received by the Madrasa’s trust has been diverted for the building of the mosques near the border villages.
These funds were to be used for the uplifting of the poor and downtrodden.
The Jamia - Tus - SalihatMadarsa owned by Moulana Shakeel- ur –Rehman was providing education to nearly 350 girl students hailing from Kathua, Bani ,Basohli, Jammu , Udhampur, Reasi and Ramban districts. Moulana formed the trust and applied for registration under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act. ( FCRA ) and started getting foreign funds.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, received the information that the more than 150 mosques were built by Moulana by diverting these funds and also used it for personal gains. The Jammu and Kashmir Government wrote to the Crime Branch Jammu and accordingly case FIR no23/2023 u/s 35 foreign contribution act , 409 and 107 IPC was registered in this connection.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar have directed the Deputy Commissioners of Samba, Kathauaand Jammu to collect the details regarding nature of the land on which the mosques have been built and the financial implications involved.
“Divisional Commissioner Jammu received a letter from MHA vide No. DME / VPN / 160/2022 dated 06/03/2023 where in it was ordered to take over the possession of Madarsa Jamia Tus Salihat and also identify whether the mosques built by Moulana Shakeel are on state land or on registered land. Following the directions, Div Com Jammu got the Madrasa sealed and ordered the DCs to collect the details of the nature of land on which the mosques are built. The building of the trust has been given on Superdnama to Principal Govt Higher Secondary School Sunjwa”, a senior police officer told The News Now.
