AIP leader opens up about his reluctant path to Parliament

Jammu: The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), led by Lok Sabha MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid has said that becoming a Member of Parliament was never his choice , but to amplify the voice and cause of people of Kashmir drove him to take up the challenge. He also said that his decision to contest the election was a reaction to the pressure put on him by the current government to support its agenda, which he refused.
The AIP president further said that despite the BJP and agencies supporting Sajad Lone in the Lok Sabha polls, the outcome was different because of the people's will. So, the narrative about him being brought in to defeat someone was not worth responding as it disrespected the decision made by over 500,000 voters.
In a tete-in-tete with Faheem Tak for The News Now, Engineer Rashid also admitted about Modi doing fine work and finding his attention in good stead, but added that expecting Modi to do better is like hoping to get oranges from an apple tree.
