Recruitment for JKP: Over 5 Lakh candidates applied for constable post

Jammu: More than five lakh candidates have applied for the post of constables for Jammu and Kashmir Police for which exams to be conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB).
Official sources said that more than 5 lakh candidates have applied in all over J&K and more than 3 lakh applicants expected to appear in Jammu division.
They also informed that the exams would be conducted in three categories on December 01, 08 and 22, 2024.
To review the preparations, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today convened a meeting which was attended by Chairperson JKSSB, Indu Kanwal Chib, SP HeadQuarter Jammu and other concerned officers while Deputy Commissioners along with SSPs of Jammu division participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
The meeting discussed measures to be taken at different levels to ensure fair and smooth conduct of the exams.
While giving details of the forthcoming exams, the Chairperson JKSSB informed that the Board has initiated the process for conducting OMR based examination for selection against Constable posts in Home Department
The Div Com directed DC to identify centres as there is need to increase the existing capacity as the number of applicants are higher than the earlier.
He stressed on putting in all possible measures for foolproof security, maintenance of law and order, provision of logistic support for successful conduct of examinations.
The SSPs were directed to deploy an adequate number of men and women police personnel for frisking and other arrangements at various centres in the districts.
The Div Com also directed DCs concerned to make available proper arrangements of uninterrupted power supply, water supply and other amenities in the examination centres during the examinations and ensure that the candidates are not put to any discomfort.
The Div Com also directed DCs to nominate observers/magistrates for each centres.
