Omar led govt. fulfilled 4 promises in month after coming into power
SRINAGAR: In one month, the Jammu and Kashmir government, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, fulfilled four promises made in the manifesto.
The statement was made by Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq while talking to the media in Srinagar on Saturday.
MLA Tanvir said, "We made the promises in our manifesto, and we reaffirmed our commitment to those promises on the first working day of the Assembly when we passed our resolution. Those promises bind us, and this government is committed to fulfilling what is written in the manifesto. Whether it is the 12 guarantees or the 26 points, we stand firm on all of them".
He said, “Today marks one month since this government was formed, and in this one month, four major promises made by Omar Sahib have been fulfilled. These include the resolution on special status, the resolution on statehood restoration, bringing back the November session, and the relaxation in age limits”.
If you think about it, Omar Abdullah Sahib's government has addressed the vacuum of 10 years in just one month. We are committed, and the work will continue gradually. This government has a mandate for five years. We will fulfill every promise we made, MLA Zadibal said.
Asked about the question being asked by the alliance Congress on resolution in the Assembly, he said, "In the Assembly, we had committed to clarifying and passing the resolution on special status. Jammu and Kashmir had only one special status, the one that existed before 2019”.
Now, those criticizing it are either lying to themselves or perhaps are unaware because Jammu and Kashmir’s special status encompassed everything—whether it was job security, land security, Article 370, or 35A. All of these were part of that special status, he said.
I would have acknowledged it if there were another special status for Jammu and Kashmir. Now, ask them what exactly they are talking about. The resolution on statehood was separate, passed by the Cabinet and the Assembly. However, MLA Zadibal said the promise made to the people regarding special status has been fulfilled.
It is written in the preamble, and I have read it too, that we are committed to everything mentioned. The same people criticizing us now are those who habitually criticize everything. Otherwise, he said they should be asked if Jammu and Kashmir had any other special status before or after 2019.
There was only one special status, which included all these provisions, and that is what we will uphold. These critics should reflect on their own actions and what happened in 2019 before pointing fingers at others, he said.
Asked about seeking Rs 6000 Cr special financial fund for Jammu and Kashmir, MLA Zadibal said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is trying to get Jammu and Kashmir back on track in every field, be it tourism, finance, electricity, or any other field.
Chief Minister met Union Minister in New Delhi and we are hopeful it will have a positive outcome, he said.
