40 non residents managed arms license from Jammu, Rajasthan ATS joins probe

JAMMU: Rajasthan Police's Anti-Terror Squad (ATS), which under its special 'Operation Zubeida' recently claimed to have busted a racket allegedly involved in providing of arms license across the country, reportedly have provided the list of forty persons to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for investigation.
"The list was provided to the Jammu police by the Rajasthan Police's Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bajrang Singh who was in town, recently, for investigation of the scam.", said a senior police officer
"The Rajasthan Police has handed over the list of forty persons who have arranged the gun license from Jammu showing their present address in Jammu while living in Rajasthan. The investigation in this connection has been started", said SSP Jammu Dr Sunil Gupta when contacted by the News Now.
Following the report, a police team today visited at the office of the District Magistrate Jammu and seized records for investigation.
"The police team has seized the records pertaining to the gun license from the office of the judicial clerk", said Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Arun Manhas.
Meanwhile, authoritative sources told New Now that the forty persons who are subject of investigation are high profile in Rajasthan having close repo with political circle. "A dozen of them are having malls and other business empires in Rajasthan.'
Sources also said that apart from list of forty persons, the ATS Rajasthan has list of other persons too who have managed their arms licenses from Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri and Kathua showing their address from the respective districts.
"Whether they have managed their arms license after police's investigation report and whether they are registered with judicial clerk of the office of the respective District Magistrate are the subject of investigation", said an officer in Home Department on anonymity.
Pertinently, Rajasthan Police Anti-Terror Squad started 'Operation Zubeida' four months ago after they arrested Vishal (Fazilka-Punjab) and racket kingpin Zuber Khan (Ajmer-Rajasthan).
On their disclosure ATS arrested Jammu based arms dealer namely Rahul Grover son of Mohan Lal Grover, a resident of Pretty Day Apartments, Sainik Colony, running 'Armory Shop' in the name and title of M/s Sharma Arms Co at Barnai Road near Bantalab and recovered over 100 arms licenses with huge cache of weapons from him.
The operation was initiated after ATS Rajasthan got inputs about the network involved in forging documents to show non-J&K resident beneficiaries as residents of the J&K, besides army and defence personnel posted in the Valley.
"A case FIR No. 27/2017 in this connection stood registered at Jaipur Headquarters under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 474 and 120-B IPC and 3, 25 and 29 Arms Act".
