Phase 1 and 2: 7 Kashmiri Pandit candidates vie for crucial seats in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: In the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, seven Kashmiri Pandit candidates are stepping forward to contest key constituencies, marking a crucial political moment for the displaced community.
These candidates aim to represent the community's long-standing aspirations, including the desire for dignified return and political recognition in their homeland.
Among the prominent candidates is Vir Ji Saraf, contesting from Shangus-Anantnag East on a BJP ticket. A strong voice for Kashmiri Pandits, Saraf is focused on ensuring the safe return of the community to their native region while promoting development and communal harmony.
In Habba Kadal, Sanjay Saraf and Nana Ji Dembi will represent the Kashmiri Pandit community, turning this historic constituency into a battleground for displaced voices. Sanjay Saraf, a veteran of Kashmiri politics, emphasizes unity between different communities and aims to build bridges between Pandits and the local population.
In Beerwah, Sanjay Parva is contesting for a chance to advocate for the Pandit community while addressing local issues related to development and employment.
In Rajpora, two candidates from different political ideologies are contesting for the same seat. Daisy Raina, representing the Republic Party of India, stands out for her grassroots work as a Sarpanch and her vision for empowering the youth. She is joined by Arun Kumar Raina, representing the NCP, who also seeks to give voice to the community's needs and aspirations in the political sphere.
Finally, in Shangus-Anantnag, M K Yogi of the Apni Party is determined to bring employment and development opportunities to the region while advocating for the peaceful coexistence of all communities.
These candidates carry the hopes of their community as they compete in the upcoming elections. Their presence in the political arena is seen as a step toward reclaiming the political identity of Kashmiri Pandits and ensuring their rightful place in the region's future.
