Jammu: In what can be seen as riding on a turbulent ride, NC- Congress alliance suffered a fresh jolt when former PCC chief Vikar Rasool lashed out at NC castigating all the three generations of Abdullah clan besides assailing party’s flag while correlating it to a symbol that has sucked blood of people over the decades. Is this alliance on rocks….?
There could have been no hard hitting political assault at any rival better than this when Vikar Rasool spewed out charges against NC, which in any case is an alliance partner for his party Congress. In his typical zealous firebrand style of speech, Vikar Rasool left no jargon in criticizing Abdullahs –from Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah to his son Farooq and third generation scion Omar, disapproving their tenures unequivocally as having brought miseries to the people of erstwhile state of J&K.
The reference in his speech at an election rally was evidently for what has done for Banihal over the decades, challenging NC leaders to show them any development works for the people of this constituency. The Congress leader, who has occupied a position no less than that of PCC chief in all his visible vibes against NC even accused the party workers of trying to allure voters with money. He even denounced the NC’s flag – attributing its red hue as a ‘flag of blood’.
At any election rally spewing venom against the rival is something routine one comes across almost daily across UT when the poll fever is at peak. But this one raises eyebrows for a fact that both the parties have reached a pact of pre poll alliance which in all likelihood would continue post polls if they perform well at hustings. Is Vikar Rasool unaware of this or trying to remain blissfully ignorant ….?
While leaders at the top level of both NC and Congress in UT have minced no words in explaining this bonhomie as a compulsion, giving broad hints they are not matching political wave lengths at all and this ‘compulsive marriage’ is only to keep BJP out of accruing benefits of possible power in the Assembly, yet the fact remains they have already reached an understanding where the leaders and candidates are expected to respect each other or draw lines for denouncing each other, at least in constituencies where the word ‘Friendly contest’ has been decided.
As all is fair in political battle at the time of polls, it remains to be seen how NC reacts to fiery stance of senior Congress leader Vikar Rasool and the accusations he made at his rally.
