ASI, the largest surgical academic body in the Asia-Pacific region and the second largest globally, comprises over 40,000 surgeons from across India and the world. The Governing Council, consisting of 70 members, serves as ASI's highest decision-making body, with representatives from all states in India.
Dr. Bhasin’s association with ASI spans over two decades, having joined as a Full Life Member in 2002.
He is also a Founder Member of the J&K State Chapter of ASI (JAKASI) and has held key positions such as Executive Member, Joint Secretary, Honorary Secretary (2017-2020), and Chairman/President of JAKASI (2022-2024).
He has been an instrumental figure in organizing several surgical events, including JAKSICON-2014, 2015, 2018, and 2024, as well as the National ASI event—the Regional Refresher Course for Surgeons—held at GMC Jammu in August 2023.
A distinguished academician and surgeon, Dr. Bhasin has delivered over 100 guest lectures at various state and national conferences and published more than three dozen papers in esteemed national and international journals.
His contributions to the field of surgery have earned him prestigious honors, including the Dr. P.K. Sen Sarma Endowment Lecture at ASICON 2020 and Chairman’s Orations in recent years.
With his election to ASI's Governing Council, Dr. Bhasin is expected to represent the interests of the surgical fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir at the national level, fostering greater collaboration between surgeons in J&K and those from other parts of the country.
His vast experience in teaching, administration, and clinical surgery will further strengthen his role in advancing the field of surgery in the region.
