Lauds efforts of stakeholders for smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday urged the youth of the Union Territory to take advantage of the dynamic and competitive environment and knowledge platforms to set new goals in life.
Addressing a student felicitation programme at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) here, Sinha said as youth of this great nation, they should contribute towards realising the vision of "Viksit Bharat 2047".
"I strongly believe the goal of education is not limited to numbers and rankings. It is also about creating better human beings and future leaders who will bridge the gaps between the education sector and the needs of the globalised economy," the LG said.
Sinha also emphasised the role of the school education department, academic institutions, and the teaching community in imparting life skills to the students and promoting learning beyond the classroom.
"Our focus should also be on lifelong learning skills, creativity, curiosity, problem solving and critical thinking. This will help the talented youth develop valuable and special skills that will enable them to effectively tackle all future challenges," Sinha said.
Meanwhile, LG lauded the combined efforts of all stakeholders involved in the successful organization of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024.
At a felicitation ceremony held at Raj Bhawan Auditorium, the LG expressed gratitude to the officers of Jammu and Kashmir Administration, J&K Police, Army, Air Force, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Emergency and Health Services, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, and dedicated volunteers.
LG praised their collective efforts, which ensured a seamless experience for the devotees throughout the 52-day yatra, which concluded with a record-breaking 5,12,252 pilgrims performing darshan at the holy cave, marking the highest turnout in twelve years and the fourth instance of exceeding 5 lakh yatris.
Calling the Yatra an "eternal symbol of spiritual heritage," LG Sinha highlighted the significance of the collaborative spirit and dedication displayed by "Team J&K," who worked tirelessly to create a memorable pilgrimage.
He emphasized the contributions of every section involved, from religious leaders and medical staff to sanitation workers, ponywalas, and pithuwalas, which made the pilgrimage smooth and dignified for all.
He also extended special thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their continued support and guidance in ensuring the Yatra’s success. Comprehensive arrangements were in place across both Yatra tracks, with 77 healthcare facilities, 509 clinical beds, 26 oxygen booths, and two 100-bed hospitals set up along the route.
Around 1,238 medical professionals provided round-the-clock services to pilgrims.
Further enhancements included a zero-landfill waste disposal approach, efficient solid waste management by 7,000 sanitation workers, and 600 trained staff. Over 32,000 ponywalas and pithuwalas assisted yatris along the mountainous paths, while the new infrastructure, such as a new track on the Pahalgam axis, heli-charter services, and accommodations at Yatra Niwas, contributed significantly to the comfort and safety of pilgrims.
