Leh: To harness the vast hydropower and solar energy potential of Ladakh, the administration has proposed establishing two Circle Offices and one Division Office in each of the newly formed districts. The initiative aims to streamline resource management and accelerate renewable energy development across the region.
The proposal, submitted by Er. Mohd Ali, Chief Project Engineer of the Power Development Corporation (PDC), UT Ladakh, emphasizes the need for focused oversight in tapping the region’s significant energy resources. The plan includes the creation of new offices in the districts of Drass, Zanskar, Nubra, and Changthang, alongside additional offices in Kargil and Leh for efficient project management.
These new establishments are expected to facilitate comprehensive exploration and utilization of Ladakh’s renewable energy resources. The administration believes this infrastructure will enable better control and monitoring of projects, ensuring the long-term sustainability of energy generation while positioning Ladakh as a renewable energy hub.
The proposal has been shared with key stakeholders, including the Deputy Commissioners and CEOs of the LAHDCs in Kargil and Leh, as well as the Chairman of the New District Committee. It is now awaiting recommendations and approval for implementation.
