Jammu: A day after police’s failure to secure the arrest of the notorious bovine smuggler cum gangster namely Gulzar Ahmed alias Lau Gujjar and the growing incidents of cattle thefts have put the question mark on Jammu and Kashmir Police’s efficiency as hundreds of people Monday burnt tyres on road to lodge their resentment against police , here in Bishnah area.
Hundreds of people gathered at NatralChowk ,Bishnah district Jammu and held protest against the administration and police for not being able to arrest the bovine smugglers. Later JayPrakash, brother of BJP MLAVijaypur Chander Prakash Ganga, also joined the protestors and burnt tyres on road to show their resentment .They said that Gujjars are stealing their cattle from their houses and police are watching them as mute spectators. They also stressed the December 1 incident when someone stole four buffaloes and one ox from Gau Shalla in the Rehal area. The protestors were pacified by SDPO R.S Pura Nikhil Gogna and SHO Bishnah Sushil Choudhary.
Meanwhile in the latest development of the Lau Gujjar’s escape, Police have lodged a case vide FIRNo 199/2024 U/s 109/136/61(2) BNS 7/27 A Act 8/21/22/25 NDPS Act at police station Bishnah. Police have launched a hunt for his two brothers namely Mohd Yaqoob alias Yuka and Palla who arranged a motorcycle for him at Sarore area to make his escape good.
Pertinently, Police on Sunday laid a special naka in Ratnal area on Ring Road to nab Gulzar Hamed alias Lau Gujjar.The latter opened fire on police and escaped from the spot after leaving his Thar car bearing registration number PB010EZ 0911 which was later seized by police.
During the search of the vehicle, police recovered one illegal pistol along with one live cartridge and 5.5 grams of heroin from the dashboard of the vehicle.
