Srinagar: The Cyber Wing of the J&K Police has warned social media influencers and YouTubers against promoting betting apps, fraudulent investment schemes, and fake work-from-home job offers.
The warning comes amid rising public concerns over the proliferation of misleading advertisements in these domains.
Cyber Police Kashmir on Wednesday warned of strict legal action against anyone found advertising or endorsing such fraudulent platforms.
"Attention Social Media Influencers & YouTubers: Refrain from promoting betting apps, fraudulent investment schemes, or fake work-from-home job offers. Such actions not only mislead the public but are also punishable under the law," Cyber Police Kashmir said in a post on X.
It added that they are closely monitoring these activities.
"Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found advertising or endorsing such fraudulent platforms. Stay responsible. Report suspicious activities to us," the Cyber police added.
Earlier this year, two men from Kashmir were cheated by a job agent through a YouTube channel who forced them to fight Russia's War against Ukraine. In a similar way at least ten young men from various parts of the country were also forced to fight the war for Russia.
