84 Junior Assistants, 1200 Multi Tasking Staff posts will be filled through direct recruitment

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has issued a notification inviting objections for the draft Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar (Subordinate) Services Recruitment Rules, 2024.
The notification outlines the creation of 84 Junior Assistant posts and 1,200+ Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) positions, all to be filled through direct recruitment.
The draft rules were finalized after extensive meetings held by a committee reconstituted earlier this year under Government Order No. 386-JK(HME) of 2024, which aimed to update the recruitment methods for non-gazetted and Class-IV posts at GMC Srinagar.
The Health and Medical Education Department has issued an order in this regard.
According to the newly proposed rules, the recruitment will be carried out through the Board and the Departmental Promotion Committee. The posts are open to direct recruitment, with promotion and transfer options for existing employees under a designated quota.
Candidates for the posts must meet the qualifications outlined in Schedule-II of the draft rules, while recruitment will be guided by the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act of 2004, ensuring adequate representation from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other reserved categories.
The government has called upon all stakeholders, particularly members of GMC Srinagar and its associated hospitals, to submit any objections or suggestions regarding the draft rules within 15 days of the notification's issuance. This marks the final opportunity for revisions before the draft is placed before the Standing Committee/ARI Trainings Department for final approval.
Selected candidates may also be required to undergo specific training and pass departmental exams as part of their probationary period, ensuring that they meet the skill requirements of their roles.
This notification comes as part of an ongoing effort to streamline the recruitment process at GMC Srinagar, following years of changes in nomenclature, upgrades, and expansions within the institution.
Interested candidates are urged to stay informed about the official release of application procedures for these posts, which is expected to draw a large number of applicants due to the high demand for government jobs in the region.
