J&K govt committed to safeguard tribal rights, welfare, says LG Sinha

'Science &Sanskar both important for balanced growth of humanity'

Jammu: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the rights of tribal communities, emphasizing their inclusion in the mainstream development agenda for the first time in decades.
Addressing the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrations, the LG highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the administration to ensure holistic development and welfare of tribal populations.
"For the first time, the welfare of tribal communities, who were excluded from the mainstream of development for several decades, has been kept at the center of the government’s agenda," the LG stated.
Speaking at the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrations, held at the Convention Centre in Jammu, the LG joined the event virtually and paid glowing tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a legendary freedom fighter and tribal icon. “Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas is dedicated to honoring Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s legacy and celebrating the vibrant culture and history of tribal communities,” the LG remarked.
outlined the historic steps taken by the J&K Government in the past four years under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He remarked that these initiatives aim to empower tribal communities, ensuring their integration into the mainstream development process while preserving their unique cultural identity.
He underscored the government’s efforts to address the long-standing exclusion of tribal communities from development. By implementing transformative measures, the administration has aimed to uplift tribal families, provide equal opportunities, and improve the welfare of women and youth from these communities.
LG elaborated on various initiatives, including the implementation of the Forest Rights Act, allocation of land to landless beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), establishment of smart schools and tribal hostels, and the provision of scholarships. He emphasized that these efforts are paving the way for a brighter future for tribal populations in Jammu and Kashmir.
LG also highlighted the Dharti AabaJanjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, an initiative to address gaps in social infrastructure, health, education, and livelihood in tribal areas. He expressed confidence that such campaigns would ensure holistic development while honoring the cultural and linguistic heritage of tribal communities.
LG reaffirmed the government’s resolve to promote inclusive growth and development for tribal communities, ensuring their rights are safeguarded and their contributions to the nation are recognized and celebrated.
Meanwhile, addressing ‘All India Vedic Conference-2024’ at Haridwar, LG highlighted the need to create fine balance between material advancement and developing a compassionate society, kind and noble human being. He emphasised the role of scientists and spiritualists in achieving the said goal.
'Science' & 'Sanskar', both are equally important for balanced growth of humanity. Vedas taught us about the science, math, medicine and science ensured new inventions, innovations and findings, serving the cause of humanity, the Lieutenant Governor said.
He said: “Spiritual odyssey lit our path in the process of self-realization while scientific quest gave us new technologies, health, food, means of communication, travel, quality of life and it ensured welfare of humankind”.
“Vedas gave us the true meaning of life and continue to guide us towards a noble path. Timeless wisdom of Vedas nurturing minds and hearts of young generation. I truly believe Vedic ethics and values will ensure we prosper materially and also follow the path of righteousness and Dharma,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
