Will results in BJP’s favour impact political scenario across UT….?

Jammu: The nation is waiting eagerly for the outcome of polls results in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, so are the people of J&K looking up eagerly what emerges, even as the exit polls have given broad hints about possibilities. Will the poll results impact political scenario in terms of present dispensation and its relations with Centre, agenda of two allies besides its survival in UT ….?
A quick nerve check of political spectrum across UT suggests this in assertive. Analysts are of the view it is not only ruling parties but also opposition and all small parties in Kashmir are keenly waiting for the results for the sole reason whether BJP merges victorious in both the states or not.
Even the common people especially in Kashmir who helped National Conference emerge as the biggest gainer in recent Assembly polls, have a strong opinion that if BJP led Mahayuti alliance retains power in Maharashtra and registers victory in the other state, things are not going to remain smooth for the Omar Abdullah led government in context of fulfilling political commitments.
BJP retaining power or making fresh forays is being deciphered in J&K’s political mindset as strengthening of party’s Hindutva agenda and in simple terms as giving more political potency to the existing dispensation in New Delhi, says a senior politician of J&K. Omar may well be in power but his hands are still tightened for everything which people want him to do and the way he should govern, he said explaining psyche of voters who enabled him emerge winner.
The emotional euphoria of people continues unabated about BJP having been completely sidelined despite good number of seats in the UT and they are highly hopeful that Omar led government will reverse the scenario on Article 370 besides restoration of statehood. Though the Chief Minister is consistently trying to build a strong rapport with New Delhi, he is far from achieving objectives. He is hugely dependent upon Centre and cannot take decisions independently even in routine matters. How he and his government conducted himself in the first Assembly session has only gone in favour of BJP as the latter is projecting both NC and Congress agenda as anti national, distancing J&K from country.
As for the resolution passed in Assembly for restoration of statehood, it is only a gesture so far and common people look at it only as hoodwinking one. Experts and observers say even though it is expedient step, the government rushed into that and Chief Minister succumbed to pressure on that. While Omar showed immaturity, the Speaker who is far more experienced could have handled it deftly by delaying or deferring it for some time.
